This month's inspiration comes in the form of quotes from a few favorite movies.

• May the force be with you. (Star Wars, 1977)

Your challenge is to make a card inspired by one of the 4 quotes listed above.


I used the There's No Place Like Home quote.

Having moved from NY to Chicago in 2012, I've felt homesick on and off the past year and a half.

These cards were made with intentions of writing back home and for OWH soldiers wanting to send a note home.

I didn't put a sentiment on the card because I didn't think it had the room, and because I couldn't decide what to put on there.  I thought of:   from my home to yours, thinking of home, love to home...
nothing really caught my attention.

Here's the card.

I used the April Showers Lite and Once Upon a Child cartridges for this card.  I also ran a few things through my Big Shot for dimension. This is the first time using gel pens to add dimension to the card.

Below is the first card I created, but I thought it had too much detail.

I noticed everyone was stamping their cards on this site, I'm going to try that in the near future...

Fantabulous Cricut Craft Challenge - Pick a Holiday

I created this cute Easter card and thought I should enter it into the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #200.

It's a cute chicke!

All of the paper is from Recollections at Michael's.  I used the Easter Seasonal 2010 download in my Cricut Craft Room for the chickie, Ashlyn's Alphabet cartridge for the scalloped frame oval, and welded Happy Easter from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.

FCCC #200 Pick a Holiday

Hello!

The Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog #200 is to pick your own Holiday.  For my card I used Spring Holiday Cards.  This card cut is meant to be used with St. Patrick's Day.  I love how versatile these cards are.  I made a classic green and yellow card for my mother a few years ago.  Today I was in a colorful mood and this super cute Glittery Tie Die paper from Michael's was on my mind.

It's cute and simple, but sometimes simple is better.

OWH Sketch Challenge #214 and some other cards

Hello!

Hope you've been crafting and keeping warm!  I'm not even going to talk weather, but I will say I've made some stuff and would like to share it with you...

This week's Operation Write Home Challenge #214 came easier than I thought. 

Here's the sketch:



and here is my version:

I was looking through my scraps this past week and pulled some papers from a small card stack. I decided to use those papers to make the card for this challenge.

The striped and stars papers were cut at about 1.5 to 1 inch strips.
The stars were made on the cricut - George and Basic Shapes
The twin is from Michaels and I don't like it since it looks like it's frayed ... note to self - don't go cheap

I made 8 of these cards and they will be used as Any Hero mail.

On to more cards.  I found this cute design paper in an old DCVW card stack... I mean, it's from quite a few years back...

The scissors image was free online, but I forgot the source.  Just type in free sewing images and this will come up.
I also brought out the sewing machine to give it an authentic look.

The design paper for these cards looked like counted cross stitch, so I outlined the main design I wanted to emphasize and sewed around the edges to give it more texture.

Operation Write home has great tutorials and inspiration. A while back they had a tutorial on how to use a 6x6 card stack all at once.  

I'm very slow at making cards, but I decided to give it a try.  I used a 6 x6 stack from My Mind's Eye to create these cards, and to my surprise, I came up with several cards.  Here they are!

I can honestly say that I made more cards at one time than I ever made before, which is AWESOME.  But I only used about a third to half of the stack... must keep at it in the future.

These two cards popped up along the way when I found some interesting paper...

Last But not least...  

My daughter loves to color and she wanted me to hang with her to color for a while.  Well, I thought this would be a good time to bring out an old favorite of mine from my childhood.

Does anyone else remember this Light Up Drawing Desk?  It had a tone of Disney images to copy and color.  I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it....

Here it is, still in the original box (a bit beat up over the years) from the early 80s!!!


We took turns on the desk and these are the cards I came up with:

I love the polka dot paper with Micky Mouse.  Just had to share an old memory with my girl.  And she loved it!

OWH Chalenge #213

Hello!  This week's Operation Write Home Challenge #212 was a Clean and Simple card that used up your scraps.  Well, I'm so far behind on cutting up my scraps, I used two 6 x 6 Design papers from My Mind's Eye and some scraps I had to make 24 amazing cards.

And these are some of the cards I made with them:

I had so much fun making these cards!  The sentiments were cut from a Cricut Solutions Cartridge- Stamping.  The hearts were from my stash.  And the flowers were stamped and colored with watercolor pencils.  One day I'll try copics... maybe when I win the lottery and can afford them and take a class too!

Valentine's Day Cards

I created some interesting cards today for the family.

I wanted to make a fun card for my darling daughter, and this is what I came up with:

It was my first attempt at an easel card.  I made a tri-fold card before and it came out good, so I decided to give this a try.  I really like how she can put in on her dresser and see the entire card.  I noticed some using Brads to help hold up the card, and thought it was brilliant.

This is a side view.  She loves the color orange, so I had to go with that color

       

I made this one for my hubby.  He's out of town this week (and next), but he will eventually get it.

This is another card I made with by just cutting paper. It's last year's Bazzill Valentine card stock.   If you noticed my cards don't have a lot of dimension, it is because I like to create cards for Operation Write Home.  It's a wonderful organization that utilizes crafters to create A2 cards to send to troops overseas to write on and send back to their families in the states.  They also have A TON of videos, tutorials, sketches, challenges, blogs, etc.  Since they send so many cards overseas and don't want them to get damaged or returned for over the limit weight, we minimize the dimension of the cards.  You should check them out, perhaps subscribe to their blog, they are so inspiring.

I'm going to enter the Fantabulous Cricut Craft Challenge this week and hope for a goodie!

Tri-Fold Card

On this week's  Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog their Thursday Tutorial was on creating a tri-fold card with your cricut.  It was quite interesting and inspiring!  So inspiring, I decided to try one myself.  Sheila does a great job getting it started on the Gypsy and I created mine in the Cricut Craft Room.
